Jakob Wagner is an award-winning classical guitarist known for his expressive sound, technical ease, and musical depth. A laureate of the Hannabach and Nordhorn Competitions, he studied in Düsseldorf, Salzburg, Paris, and Basel, drawing from diverse traditions – including the French, Spanish, and Cuban guitar schools – and combines them with a strong academic background in Musicology and Early Music.
Over the past decade, he has taught students of all levels both in-person and online. He served as a tutor at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf and has contributed educational content to tonebase, including full-length video lessons and livestreams. His teaching focuses on building technical stability, tone control, and musical confidence – always tailored to each student’s goals and strengths.
As a performer, Jakob appears regularly across Europe as a soloist and chamber musician. His debut album Pictures(GENUIN Classics, 2025) features five newly commissioned works inspired by visual art and showcases his interest in bridging music and other art forms.
